How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Dumpster in Orlando?

At Eco Haul Services a dumpster rental in Orlando costs $295 for one day, $395 for three days, $495 for seven days and $895 for thirty, and every one of those prices includes delivery, pickup and one ton of disposal weight, two tons on the seven day plan. That is the whole price for our 14 yard container on your driveway. What moves the number from there is not the size of the box, because we rent one size, but four things: how many days you keep it, how much the load weighs, what the load is made of, and where the container sits.

We would rather show you where the number comes from than quote a range: two of those four things are public rates set by Orange County, Seminole County and the City of Orlando, each linked so you can check them.

What a dumpster rental costs at Eco Haul, and what the price includes

We rent one container, 14 feet long, 7 feet wide and 4 feet tall, on four rental lengths, $295 for 1 day, $395 for 3, $495 for 7 and $895 for 30. Delivery and pickup are included in all four, and each plan includes disposal weight, one ton on the 1, 3 and 30 day plans and two tons on the 7 day plan, which is why the 7 day plan is the one we recommend for anything involving a contractor. Extra days are $50, $40, $35 and $30 respectively, so the longer plan is always the cheaper way to buy a day. Going from three days to seven costs $100 up front, while stretching a three day rental into a week with extra days costs $160.

The four things that move the price

Days. A staged cleanout needs a day. A kitchen tear out needs a week. We cover which plan fits which project in its own guide.

Weight. The landfill puts the container on a scale and charges by the ton, and that charge is where every dumpster company’s included tonnage and overage fees come from. Ours is $0.05 per pound over the ton or two tons your plan includes, $100 a ton, and we do not haul the container over four tons.

Material. Tile, shingles, dirt and wet yard waste are heavy per cubic yard. Cabinets, cardboard and furniture are not. The same container can weigh one ton or six depending on what goes in it. We do not haul it over four, and concrete does not go in ours at all.

Placement. On your driveway there is no permit and no fee in Orlando, Winter Park, unincorporated Orange County or unincorporated Seminole County, the four governments we checked. On the street, the sidewalk or the grass strip by the curb, whoever owns that ground charges for it.

A fifth comes up only sometimes: outside our service area there is a fuel surcharge, and we say so on the phone before you book.

Weight: what the landfill charges per ton, and why every quote includes some

The Orange County Landfill on Young Pine Road publishes its rates, approved by the Board of County Commissioners and in effect since October 1, 2025. Construction and demolition debris is $41.10 per ton, and only the landfill takes it. Yard waste is $46.80 per ton. Household garbage is $54.20 per ton. The minimum charge is $9.00. Its rate sheet also says “Any mixed loads will be charged the higher tonnage rate,” so a container that mixes branches with drywall is billed at the yard waste rate, and one that mixes either with household garbage at $54.20. And “uncovered loads will be charged a double fee,” which is why every load that leaves in our container goes out under a tarp and why we ask you to keep the pile below the rim so the tarp fits.

Seminole County charges $41.63 per ton for covered loads of garbage, construction debris and yard waste alike, effective September 25, 2024, and exactly double, $83.25, when the load arrives uncovered. Construction debris goes only to the Seminole County Landfill on Osceola Road in Geneva, not to the transfer station in Longwood.

The City of Orlando tells its own residents the same on its roll-off page: “Weight is charged by the ton, so be mindful of the type of materials you’re throwing away. Most furniture, carpeting and plants will usually cost less, while concrete, bricks and dirt will often cost more.” By the EPA’s own conversion factor, an estimate of 860 pounds per cubic yard of concrete, about 2.3 cubic yards of broken slab weigh a ton, less than a fifth of our container. Concrete stays out of ours. By the EPA factor for uncompacted mixed municipal waste, 250 to 300 pounds per cubic yard, which is what a garage cleanout is, a 14 yard container full of junk weighs between 1.75 and 2.1 tons. Our policy is the simple version of all this. The ton, or the two tons, is in the price, and weight above it is $0.05 per pound, a rate you hear before you book and not on the invoice.

The permit line most price guides get wrong

On your own driveway you do not need a permit in Orlando, Winter Park, unincorporated Orange County or unincorporated Seminole County. Every one of those permits is written for the right of way. The City of Orlando’s own right of way page opens by asking whether you need to do work “in the street, under the sidewalk or in the grassy area next to the street,” and none of the five fee schedules we read prices a container that stays inside the property line.

Inside the City of Orlando the published commercial fee schedule lists “Storage Containers in Right-of-Way” at $50 plus $10 per day the container is in the right of way. If your container is billed under that line, a week on the street is $120 and a month is $350, and Permitting Services at 407.246.2271 confirms which line applies before you book. If the container closes a lane, a maintenance of traffic permit adds $120, and working without the permit adds a penalty equal to the whole fee. Cost guides put the Orlando permit at $30 to $50. The city’s own schedule starts at $50 before the first day is counted.

Winter Park asks for a right of way permit when a construction waste container goes in the right of way, with a $90 permit fee plus monthly obstruction fees listed in the city’s fee schedule, and a review the city says is acted on within ten working days. In unincorporated Orange County the answer is not a fee but a prohibition. County code section 21-241 says centralized waste collection containers, construction dumpsters included, shall not be placed in or obstruct county roadways and the rights of way that go with them. Seminole County says its right of way utilization reviews take seven to ten business days.

Almost none of our customers touch any of this. Our container is 14 feet by 7, which fits a standard two car driveway, and we set it back from the sidewalk so the walk stays clear. When a project cannot keep the container off the street, we tell you which office to call.

Is it cheaper to rent a dumpster or go to the dump yourself?

Sometimes, and the math is worth doing. Orange County lets residents bring loads to the landfill and charges by weight with a $9.00 minimum, so one pickup load of light junk, tarped, might cost you less than a dumpster.

The math turns when the pile is bigger than a pickup or two. By the rule of thumb we use on the phone, our 14 yard container holds about four full pickup loads, which means four trips to Young Pine Road and most of a weekend. The per ton rate at the gate is the same whether the load arrives in your truck or in our container, double if you forget the tarp, so the disposal itself is no cheaper done yourself. Our price already includes the ton and the driving. For a renovation, a roof, a flooded room or a garage that has not been opened in ten years, the container wins, and for a couch and six bags, the landfill probably does.

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster for just one day?

Our 1 day plan is $295, with delivery, pickup and one ton of disposal included. It is the plan for a job that is ready when the container lands, a staged cleanout or a tear out that ends the same afternoon. If the job runs over, an extra day is $50.

A one day job should not pay for six days of a container sitting in the driveway.

What “cheap dumpster rental” usually leaves out

A dumpster quote has five questions hiding inside it, and the cheapest first line is usually the one that answers the fewest. Are delivery and pickup included? How much weight is included? What does an extra day cost? What happens above the included weight? And are there fees for fuel, for a wasted trip, or for something called an environmental charge?

Our answers, in order. Delivery and pickup, included. One ton on the 1, 3 and 30 day plans and two on the 7 day plan. Extra days $50, $40, $35 and $30. Weight above the included amount is $0.05 per pound. And there are three charges that exist and that you will hear about on the phone, not discover later: a swap when the container fills and you need a fresh one while the rental clock keeps running, $255; the overweight charge above, $0.05 per pound; and a fuel surcharge when the address is outside our service area.
