Junk Removal Fees in Orlando: The Seven on Our List

“No hidden fees” is the easiest sentence to write on a pricing page, and we write it too. On its own it is worth nothing, because a charge you were not told about is not hidden, it is just a charge nobody walked you through. Seven of them can move the price of a job with us. We publish what three of them cost and we explain the other four, and anything else that could apply is on our pricing page.

The reason any of them exist is a mismatch you can see at the scale house. You pay us for space, either the room your pile takes in the truck or the days the container sits in your driveway. The county charges us for weight. Orange County’s landfill charges $54.20 a ton for household garbage through September 30, 2026 and $56.40 after that, and doubles the rate on a load that arrives uncovered. When space and weight disagree, a charge appears, and the honest thing is to say which ones and when.

Where the number actually comes from

Two rate sheets set the floor under every quote here, and both are public.

Orange County publishes its disposal rates as approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Until September 30, 2026 they are $54.20 a ton for Class I garbage, $41.10 for Class III construction and demolition debris, and $46.80 for yard waste, with a $9.00 minimum. The rate sheet adds two rules that cost more than the rates do: “Any mixed loads will be charged the higher tonnage rate,” and “Uncovered loads will be charged a double fee.”

On October 1, 2026 those become $56.40, $42.70 and $48.70, with a $10.00 minimum. The county adopted the new schedule on August 4, and from October 1, 2027 those three per ton rates rise 4 percent every October. The $10.00 minimum is not part of that automatic increase. One rule changes with it: from that date, Class III or yard waste delivered to a transfer station is billed at the Class I rate. The county’s current rate sheet still routes construction debris to the landfill only, so check before you drive.

Seminole County is simpler and cheaper: $41.63 a ton covered, double at $83.25 uncovered, $5.00 minimum.

That is the arithmetic every quote here sits on, and why what a job costs has less to do with the company than people assume.

The four without a number depend on how long, how far and what equipment, and each is quoted before it is charged.

The three of ours with a published number

Overweight, $0.05 per pound. Every dumpster plan includes disposal weight, one ton on the 1, 3 and 30 day plans and two tons on the 7 day plan. Weight above that is five cents a pound, which is $100 a ton. The county charges us $54.20 a ton at the gate, $56.40 from October 1, 2026, and the rest covers the second trip, the fuel and the handling a heavy load takes. We do not haul the container over four tons in any case, because that is what our equipment carries. What a load really weighs has its own guide, because this is the charge people meet most.

Swap out, $255. If the container fills before the job is done, we take it away and bring an empty one. The rental period keeps running on its original clock, so a swap buys you capacity, not time.

Distance, $6 per extra mile. Past 30 miles from our yard in Oviedo, that is what the drive costs. Inside those 30 miles there is none, and most of our service area sits well inside them. If your address is near the edge, you get the number on the phone before you book.

The four that depend on what happens on the day

These four have no published price because the amount depends on how long, how far and what equipment, and a number invented for a web page would be a worse answer than none. What they are, and how each one is avoided:

Waiting time. The truck arrives and cannot start. A gate is locked, the pile is not where it was described, or the person who knows what stays has not arrived. The clock runs while the crew stands. Avoided by having someone reachable by phone at the delivery window.

Relocation, which our own paperwork calls a move fee. The container is placed, and afterwards you want it somewhere else. Moving it is a second truck run with a driver, so it is a second job. Avoided by agreeing the spot before the container comes off the trailer. Two minutes on the phone or at the curb, and it does not come up again.

Dry run, a non-run fee on our paperwork. The crew gets there and cannot do the job at all: a car parked in the driveway, a locked gate, branches too low for the truck, or nobody to say where it goes. The trip is spent either way. This is the one that annoys people most, and it is the easiest of the seven to avoid.

Special equipment. Some jobs need something the truck does not carry: a hot tub that comes apart, a safe, a piano, a piece that has to be lowered rather than lifted. Tell us on the phone and it is planned. Discover it on the day and it is a second visit.

The pattern is the same in all four: none of them is about the junk, all of them are about access and information, and every one is avoided in the same conversation.

What is already in the price

It is a shorter list than people expect.

For a dumpster, the plan price covers delivery, pickup and the disposal weight included, with the four plans at $295 for one day, $395 for three, $495 for seven and $895 for thirty. For junk removal, the price covers the crew, the lifting, the loading, the hauling, the disposal and the sorting afterwards, from $145 for a single item to $795 for a full truck. The minimum covers the trip out, sizing up the job, taking the first item and getting rid of it properly.

What is not in either price is the short list above, and the line we borrow from our own pricing page because it is the whole commitment in one sentence: we explain those costs before the job begins, not after.

What a headline price usually leaves out

Search junk removal in this market and the first number you meet is small, often under a hundred dollars. It usually buys one item from somewhere a person can reach without stairs, and it does not always say whether disposal is inside it. It is not a dishonest number. It is a number for a different thing, and the distance between it and the total is what surprises people.

Ours starts at $145 and the disposal is inside it. Two questions settle any quote in this business, ours included. Is disposal included in this number? And what happens if the load weighs more than you think? If both answers are clear, the rest of the fee list stops mattering.

Florida makes a mover itemize. This trade is different

Florida regulates the trades next door to this one, and their rules are worth reading, because they show what an itemized estimate looks like when a state writes one.

A registered mover in Florida must, by statute, give you a written estimate and contract before touching anything, with “an itemized breakdown and description and total of all costs and services … including the fees of a moving broker, if used.” The law even names the charges: waiting time, long carry, hoisting or lowering, stair carrying, disassembly. A motor vehicle repair shop must put any waste disposal charge into its written estimate on any job over $150 unless the customer waives the estimate in writing, and the statute even writes the sentence the shop has to use.

Junk removal and dumpster rental are on neither list. The state agency that licenses movers, repair shops and pest control operators does not license this trade, so what a hauler prints on its pricing page is a choice rather than a form the state supplies. Ours is the list above.

Getting a quote that does not move

Three things make a price firm, and none of them costs anything.

Send a photo of the whole pile from the doorway, so the crew sees volume instead of imagining it from a list. Say what the access is: stairs, a gate, how close the truck can park. And say the heavy part out loud, because that is the one that moves the number. Concrete does not go in our container at all, and block, brick, roofing tile and dirt we will take but do not recommend, since they run past the weight the plan includes long before the box looks full. Questions we get about this

What is the minimum charge for junk removal?

Ours is $145. It covers the trip out, sizing up the job, taking the first item and getting rid of it, and that disposal is inside the number. On a truck load we quote by the fraction of the truck, and if the pile is unusually heavy we say so before we load it. Minimums exist because the truck, the crew and the landfill ticket cost the same whether they carry one mattress or twenty.

What's included in a $99 junk removal service?

Usually one item, reachable without stairs, with the disposal billed separately. A single price that low is a single item price, not a job price, and the gap between it and the real total is what catches people out. Ask two questions of any quote, ours included: is disposal inside this number, and what happens if the load weighs more than expected.

Why is junk removal so expensive?

Because the landfill charges by the ton and you are charged by the space the load takes. Orange County charges $54.20 a ton for garbage through September 30, 2026 and $56.40 after that, and doubles that for an uncovered load. A truck of furniture fills up long before it gets heavy, and a truck of tile gets heavy long before it fills up.

What is a dry run fee?

It is what a hauler charges when the truck arrives and cannot do the job: a car in the driveway, a locked gate, low branches, or nobody there to say where the container goes. The crew has already driven out and the slot is spent. It is the easiest charge on this list to avoid, and a two minute call the day before avoids it.

Is it cheaper to rent a dumpster or hire a crew?

A dumpster is cheaper per cubic yard and you do the lifting; a crew costs more and you do nothing. Our 14 yard container is $295 for a day with a ton of disposal, and our crew runs from $145 for one item to $795 for a full truck. The container wins on a renovation, the crew wins when the pile is heavy furniture or nobody can lift it.
