Garage Cleanout Cost in Orlando, and How Long It Takes

A garage cleanout in Orlando with our crew is priced by what the pile takes up in the truck, not by the hour. A single item or the minimum visit is $145. A quarter truck, about two pickup loads, is $295. A half truck, about four pickup loads, is $395, and that is the typical two car garage. Three quarters of a truck is $595 and a full truck, about eight pickup loads, is $795. The crew loads everything, sweeps the floor and hauls it away the same visit, and what still works gets donated instead of buried. How long it takes is the second question on every call. A typical half truck garage takes our crew about 45 minutes, and the exact time depends on the pile, the access and the sorting. What follows is how we get to both numbers, what the county hauls for free if you have the patience, and what cannot ride on any truck.

What a garage cleanout costs in Orlando, by truck load

Our junk removal ladder has five steps. The minimum visit, $145, covers the trip, the first item and its disposal, which is the price of one old refrigerator. A quarter truck, $295, is a wall of the garage, a workbench, a dozen boxes and a bike. A half truck, $395, is the ordinary two car garage that has not been sorted in years, and it is the load our own price sheet describes as garage cleanouts. Three quarters of a truck, $595, is a garage packed to the door, and a full truck, $795, is three bays.

Every step includes the same things: the crew, the loading, the sweep, the haul and the disposal, plus the sorting afterwards that sends working furniture and appliances to donation and scrap metal to recycling. How much stuff fits in a one-car and a two-car garage

The City of Orlando’s code sets the minimum interior size of a garage that counts as required parking at 11 feet wide by 20 feet deep for one car and 19 feet wide by 20 feet deep for two, which is 220 and 380 square feet of floor. Two thirds of the new single family houses finished in the South in 2025 came with a two car garage, according to the Census Bureau’s survey of new housing, and eleven percent had a single bay, so when a customer in Winter Park or Oviedo says “the garage,” two bays is the safe assumption.

Translating floor into truck is our estimate and we say so. A two car garage with junk along the walls and a path down the middle is about four pickup loads, a half truck. The same garage filled to the door is closer to six pickup loads, three quarters of a truck. What moves a garage from one step to the next is rarely the furniture. It is the boxes.

How long it takes

Forty five minutes is the typical number, and three things change it more than the size of the garage. How much there is. How close the truck can park to the door. And how much sorting you want done on the spot: a garage where you have already marked what stays goes fast, and a garage where every box has to be opened and decided goes slowly.

The fastest cleanouts share three habits. The owner walked the garage the night before and put a piece of tape on everything that stays. The paint cans, the pool chemicals and the old car battery were pulled out to one side, because they cannot ride on the truck anyway.

Why the hourly and cleaning prices you see online are for something else

Three kinds of numbers come back from a search, and none of them is a cleanout. Hourly labor listings quote someone at an hourly rate to work in your garage. The rate buys hands and a clock, not a truck or a dump ticket, so unless you arrange the disposal separately the pile is still yours. Cleaning calculators quote a price to clean a garage, which means sweeping, dusting and washing the floor, again with nothing hauled away. And the national cost guides publish averages of what homeowners across the country paid, by garage size and by rough volume bands. They are still not a quote. A national average is not a price in Orlando, and a volume band is not tied to any truck you can actually book. Ours is tied to ours.

Our price is the whole job. Loading, hauling, disposal, the sorting afterwards, and a swept floor. It is set by what goes on the truck and confirmed at the door before the work starts.

The free route: what Orange and Seminole County pick up at the curb

If you can wait, part of it goes out for free. In unincorporated Orange County, large items such as furniture, mattresses, appliances, televisions and up to four passenger tires are collected on the same day as your garbage, set at the curb the night before. The county limits it to three cubic yards per household per week, which it describes as “about the size of three stoves,” and it will not take refrigerators or freezers, car parts or anything hazardous. It is billed with your property taxes.

Unincorporated Seminole County collects bulk items such as appliances, furniture and the debris from small repairs by appointment. You call the hauler that serves your zone, Waste Pro in service areas 1 and 3 and Waste Management in area 2, and set the pickup up front. Inside a city, in either county, the city runs its own program. Orlando and Winter Park in Orange, Oviedo and Casselberry in Seminole, and the city’s website tells you what it takes.

A two car garage is four to six pickup loads, and at three cubic yards of large items a week the Orange curb needs more than a month to empty it, with the fridge and the paint still in the corner. Boxes that fit the garbage cart go out with the regular garbage and do not count against that limit. For a few chairs and a mattress, use the curb. For the whole garage, most people decide their Saturdays are worth more than that.

What we donate instead of dumping, and where you can too

When the crew unloads, working furniture and appliances go to donation and scrap metal goes to recycling. If you would rather donate directly, three organizations will come to you. Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County and Greater Apopka picks up free in Seminole County, the Greater Apopka area and the Orlando area if you have at least two large pieces, booked online or at 407-215-2000. The West Orange Habitat ReStore in Winter Garden, whose work is on the west side of the county, also picks up large items free and takes furniture free of tears, pet damage and stains plus appliances in working condition. The Salvation Army schedules free pickups of furniture and working appliances that are not built in, and takes no gas appliances at all. Goodwill of Central Florida accepts drop offs but runs its pickups through a partner that charges by the piece, and it does not take large appliances, mattresses, paint or building supplies.

The Habitat for Humanity office in Orlando is not a ReStore and does not accept furniture or home items; its own website says so. The ReStore in Winter Garden does take them.

What cannot go on the truck: paint, chemicals and batteries

None of a garage’s hazardous waste can ride with the crew or in a dumpster. Paint, stains and solvents, pool and lawn chemicals, propane tanks, fluorescent tubes, car batteries and old gasoline all go to the county household hazardous waste program, which is free for residents. Orange County takes it at the Orange County Landfill, 5901 Young Pine Road, and at the Porter Transfer Station, 1326 Good Homes Road, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with paint and chemicals limited to 25 gallons per vehicle. Seminole County takes it from any county resident, city addresses included, at the Central Transfer Station, 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and runs a ReUse Shop on the same site, open until 4 p.m., where usable paint and cleaners are free to residents.

Refrigerators and freezers go the other way. They cannot go in a dumpster, because Florida bans large appliances from landfills and federal rules require the refrigerant to be recovered first, but they do ride with the crew, who route them to a facility that recovers it. Crew or dumpster: $395 without lifting anything, or $295 and you load it in a day

Our 14 yard dumpster is $295 for one day, delivery and pickup included, with a ton of disposal. By the rules of thumb we use on the phone it holds about as much as a half truck load, four pickup loads either way, and it is $100 cheaper, because you do the loading. If you have hands, a Saturday and a garage that is mostly boxes and broken furniture, it is the better deal.
